October 24, 2012

Federal Member for Fowler, Chris Hayes MP congratulates the Lions Club of Cabramatta / Cabra-Vale for its successful bid to host the Lions Clubs District Convention in 2014.

Mr Hayes provided a letter of support for CABRAMATTA 2014, which was circulated at last weekend’s District Convention in Goulburn.

Mr Hayes further congratulates the Leo Club of Canley Vale High School for being awarded Leo Club of the Year for 2012 from former Lions District Governor Geoff Hobart.

"On behalf of a grateful community, I thank Jenny Tew [President] and the Cabramatta Lions Club for organising many charity fundraisers and now bringing the Lions Convention to Cabramatta," Mr Hayes said.

"I look forward to welcoming Lions Club members to visit the most multicultural community in Australia, when Cabramatta hosts the Convention in 2014," Mr Hayes further added.

"I thank the Cabramatta Lions Club, particularly Adrian Wong [Secretary] for putting together an impressive presentation, which secured 70% of the votes at the recent Convention," Cabramatta Lions President, Jenny Tew said.

"We are honoured to be given the responsibility of hosting a District Convention and giving Lions Clubs’ delegates from around NSW, a taste of Asia in 2014," Mrs Tew further added.

Chris Hayes MP believes the CABRAMATTA 2014 District Convention will be a great opportunity to promote tourism in south-west Sydney and provide an insight into Asian cultures. Mr Hayes also congratulates the young volunteers in the Leo Club of Canley Vale High School on their Leo Club of the Year award.

"I thank Harry Wong [President] and the Canley Vale High School Leos for fundraising at many community BBQs, as well as, providing gifts and massages to our senior citizens at various aged care centres," Mr Hayes said.
