Calling all Local Sporting Champions

August 15, 2017

Do you know someone who is aged between 12-18 years that has been selected to attend a state, national or international level sporting championship?

Could they use $500 to put towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment?

If you’ve answered yes to these questions, then Federal Member for Fowler, Chris Hayes, is urging them to apply for a Local Sporting Champions Grant.

Over the past year, Chris has had the honour of advising fourteen young people of their successful applications and they were able to use their $500 grant towards achieving their goals in their chosen sport.

"Each and every one of these young people should be proud of their achievements; they’ve worked hard and deserve to be rewarded."

"It’s great to see local families encouraging their children to take part in sport but from personal experience, I know how much time and money it can take and how this can stretch the family budget."

"Whether you’re an athlete, coach or an official, the Local Sporting Champions Grants will help towards the costs of being involved in a very competitive environment."

"These grants are there for your children, your friend’s children or your children’s children."

"Take the opportunity to give them the helping hand that just might make the difference for them to achieve their goals," Chris Hayes said.
