Experience Parliament House

February 20, 2017

Calling all School Captains and Vice-Captains in the Fowler electorate. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to spend a day in a politician’s office? Would you like to experience a lunch surrounded by Members and Senators and given a “behind the scenes” tour and watch the theatre of Question Time?
Well, now’s your chance. Federal MP, Chris Hayes, has again extended an invitation to all School Captains and Vice-Captains in his electorate to come to Canberra for a day during a Parliamentary sitting week.
The day would consist of a meeting with Chris in his Canberra office, a behind the scenes tour of Parliament House, lunch in the Members’ and Guests’ Dining Room and Speakers Gallery tickets to watch Question Time.
“For the past 12 years since being elected, I’ve had the honour of hosting a range of School Captains and Vice-Captains from schools in my electorate.”
“It’s an opportunity for them to see and experience a bit of Parliamentary life, even for a few hours.”
Former Canley Vale High School student, Harry Wong, who visited Parliament House said, “the trip to Parliament House was one of the highlights of that year for me.”
“We had such a fun day and went to parts of Parliament House that I would never have had the opportunity to see.”
“I think I was a bit star struck at the time and got the courage to ask a particular ‘controversial’ Member to have a photo with us – it was a memorable day and helped inspire my interest in politics,” Harry said.
Chris has written to all schools in his electorate inviting Captains and Vice-Captains to contact him for a visit to Parliament House.
