Men’s Shed Week

March 04, 2016

Some people call it mental health.

But, to the blokes Chris Hayes chatted with this week, it’s more a case of building stuff and having a laugh with their mates.

As part of Men’s Shed Week, Chris visited the Bonnyrigg Men’s Sheds on Monday.

During his visit, Chris got a warm welcome, took part in lively discussions, and enjoyed their monthly barbecue.

"We all hear about the importance of mental health, but sometimes it can be described by different words – such as mateship, problem-solving or getting stuff done.

"Men’s Sheds play a vital role in our community, bringing together like minded people."

"They provide an environment for men to share their skills, and a place to shoot the breeze, enjoy a joke, and support and encourage each other.

"It can be difficult when transitioning from work to retirement and men’s sheds provide an environment where social interaction and mutual respect is the key to their success.

"I cannot praise those involved in our local men’s shed enough for their contribution to our community."
