Praise for our Local Emergency Services Personnel

June 06, 2016

Spending a Sunday night in a strange bed, unable to reach his home due to rising waters, was not on Chris Hayes’ agenda when he was one of the hundreds of people left stranded due to the effects of Sydney’s wild weather over the weekend.

Chris was attending a function at Liverpool Catholic Club when the local roads were flooded and he was unable to leave.

"It was surprising how fast the water rose in such a short time and sadly I witnessed first-hand how quickly people became stranded and their attempts to flee the emerging situation."

"I cannot thank the SES and emergency services personnel and volunteers enough for their quick response and compassion shown to everyone who was caught up in this frightening situation."

"Many were elderly and their distress was evident but these amazing people, many volunteers, took the time to allay their fears and help them to safety."

"I would like to also thank the Management of Liverpool Catholic Club and their staff for their handling of the situation, I was fortunate to be able to stay somewhere safe and warm and my heart goes out to those that weren’t as lucky as I was," Chris Hayes said.
