Wall to Wall Ride – Remembering our Fallen Officers (1)

September 18, 2017

For the past eight years, Fowler MP, Chris Hayes, has ridden his motorcycle in the annual Police Wall to Wall Ride, where motorcyclists from all States converge on Canberra to pay tribute to Police Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

However, this year, the Wall to Wall Ride took on a very different take for Chris.

After Chris’ recent motorcycle accident, he chose to participate on four wheels rather than two.

"Even though for the first time, I didn’t ride a motorcycle, I will continue to participate in the annual Wall to Wall Ride, one of the most significant days in the national police calendar."

"This year’s service saw the total number of police officers listed on the Memorial Wall rise by one, as we recognised the tragic loss of Senior Constable Brett Forte."

"Senior Constable Forte was shot and killed in the Lockyer Valley earlier this year and it was a very emotional but fitting occasion, paying tribute to the brave men and women who have lost their lives serving our community," Chris Hayes said.

More than 2,500 police officer and friends participated in this year’s ride.

"To Senior Constable Forte and all those police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, to all our past and current members of the police force, we honour you and profoundly thank you for your service," Chris Hayes said.
